Amanda

What to say about Amanda......we believe that Amanda has basically been to hell and back. She was obviously abused and/or tormented. She is constantly trying to defend herself and protect her "stuff". When she calms down, she loves affection but is constantly scared that you will begin tormenting her if she lets her guard down, so she doesn't. Amanda came to us with a bad open wound around her rear end and lashing out in terror. The volunteers just love her and are determined to make sure that she gets the patience and tolerance that she needs why we help her to work through her past. She needs a special person/family (no children) that will continue to help her. We realize that this type of spcial person may not exist outside of the shelter, but we are hoping, for her sake, we are hoping......Amanda, girl, born 2004 or 05

Brooke

Little Brooke was born in our care a couple years ago. She was adopted by a couple but she got outside and was hit by a car. Her family didnt want her back, so she came back to the shelter. Her front leg has been amputated due to the injuries received when she was hit by the car, however, she gets around with no trouble at all, she hopes that her next family will keep her for her lifetime. Brooke, girl, born approx 2006.

GB

GB (the black w/white chest) is such a survivor! You cant see real well but his ears are all folded down from frostbite. GB was trapped in a citizen's backyard and brought into a vet clinic to be neutered. After testing, they found out he was positive for FIV and the clinic did not want to release him. The rescuer called us to take him into our program, although at that time, we thought he was feral. Either way, he shouldn't be killed. After only a couple months in our shelter, we found out this boy is anything but feral. He was apparently abandoned and was simply frightened of people. However, after a little reassurance, he remembered he did love people! He loves affection and will "grab" your hand if you stop petting him. The white boy with him is Jordan, he is also FIV+. GB, boy, born approx 2006

Cagney

Cagney was rescued as an older kitten and because of that, it takes him a bit to trust you, but when he does, he truly loves affection. If you just give him the time he needs to trust you will be amazed at what you get in return. He gets alot well with other cats and even dogs. Wont you give him the chance he deserves? Cagney, boy, born 2009

Pop

Is this boy gorgeous or not? He literally looks like he is "painted". He was rescued from a horrible situation where cats were just breeding and breeding and no one was even feeding them. Luckily they lived through it and got to safety at our shelter. Pop is very timid with strangers, so he would need a kind patient person to adopt him. He realy loves affection but wow, he is just too scared to ask for it. However, after we close at night, he seems to come out of his shell, so we believe that in a quiet home, no children, he would do great! How can you resist such a gorgeous boy, we hope you give him the chance he deserves!! Pop, boy, born 6/08

Lady M

This gorgeous Persian girl hit a big bump in her journey of life, she somehow contracted Feline Leukemia. Feline Leukemia is terminal but some cats can live to be 8 or 9, we have even heard of older ones. We know her face looks angry, but she is so far from that, she is such a little lady, very petite under all that hair. She would need to go to a home with no other cats or other cats positive for FeLV. We still believe she needs her own family and shouldnt be put to death! Every life is precious and Lady Marmalade is hapy that we feel that way and is going to think positive that she will get the chance she deserves! Lady Marmalade, Persian, girl, born 2006.

Snookie

Although hard to tell from this picture, Snookie has a little smushed in face, apparently she has some Exotic Shorthair in her bloodline. Her eyes are very sleepy looking but we believe that is a trait of her breed. She is front paw declawed and was on her own when she showed up at someone's house looking for help.  She does get overwhelmed with all the kitties at the shelter, but tries her best to show that she is not afraid. However, sometimes she just cant help it, and without front claws, who could blame her?! Snookie is petite in that she is short to the ground and not very long, but she does have a round belly :-) which makes her all the more adorable. When she talks to you, not much comes out but a tiny meow. She can purr up a storm when she starts to feel comfortable. Snookie would prob not do well with children because a lot of action makes her a bit anxious! She hopes her family will come soon, because she is a bit scared living with all these other cats! Snookie was just diagnosed with kidney disease so she now has special needs. Snookie, girl, born approx. 2002.

Demi

This painted beauty was returned to our shelter just hours before she would have been killed at the Olathe Animal Control. You see, someone declawed this beauty and alot of declawed cats are biters and she is one. But instead of returning her to us at the shelter, they called AC on her and she spent 10 days on rabies watch, although she was current on vaccinations. She had been given the death penalty but luckily we arrived at the AC to get her before they killed her. She is VERY scared of other cats because of being declawed and she is a biter also because of that, but she does love attention and affection. This gorgeous girl just needs someone to understand that she has been through alot and would need understanding for the rest of her life, some of us just arent handed a good hand :-( Demi, girl, born approx 2006.

Cruella

My name is Cruella. I got that name because of my beautiful black and white spotted coat and pointy nose. You may have noticed I'm missing part of an ear -- that's because I as originally trapped in a feral colony and spayed by a vet that takes care of feral cats. The ears of feral cats are clipped so that rescue groups will know that cat has been spayed/neutered already. Well, anyway, it was decided after I was spayed and my ear clipped that I wasn't feral, although I was a little wild and not very social. My foster mom has worked with me since I was a baby and I'm a real sweetie now. I like to play with toys, cuddle on the bed with people at night, lay on calm laps and get petted. I startle easy still if something unexpected happens and would probably no be a good pet for a child or someone who would want to carry me around all the time. When people I don't know come to the house I do tend to hide in my foster mom's bedroom with her chicken-cats. Are you looking for a beautiful girl like me? Cruella, girl, born approximately 5/05

Rudolph was named after the reindeer because he was found peering in our shelter door on Christmas Eve 2009. He was terribly sick and desperately needed some TLC, which we were happy to provide. Rudolph tested positive for FIV, but please dont let that stop you from adopting this horribly sweet deserving guy if you have no other cats. HELP will provide all his medical care for his lifetime if you will give him the family he so deserves!  Rudolph, boy, born approx 2005. Now this boy is extra special and needs an extra special family. Strider has limited use of his back end, although he has made many strides since he was first rescued, so the chances of him regaining full use are still there. He moves around purrfectly and even gets in and out of his litter box, sometimes he falls a bit short, but this boy is full of character and spirit. He is extremely entertaining and loves attention and affection. He really doesnt need a lot of special care except no steps and cleaning up of any accidents and boy will you be adopting a special boy. DECLAWED Strider, boy, born approx 2005

Christie

Such a beauty this girl is! Arent her eyes just captivating? Christie was born to a mama cat outside and not rescued until she was a bit older, so she can be shy around strangers and new environments, but that doesnt mean that the purrfect family isnt out there for her, we believe it is! Christie has a special diet that she must stay on because if not, she tends to get urinary infections. HELP will cover the cost of the food and any vet care pertaining to this if you are the right family for her. We know you are out there! Christie, girl, born 2006

Jared is a purebred Abyssinian rescued from a breeder who had made an appt for his death because he had contracted the Feline Leukemia virus because of carelessness by that breeder. Jared has issues with his eyes and has limited vision but his spirit is very much intact. This boy is such a character, he will do all sorts of tricks for attention. He plays like no ones business. He doesnt realize he is sick and besides his eyes, you can’t tell either. HELP will cover all his medical expenses for his lifetime, if you will just give him the chance he deserves, he deserves his own family, Jared, boy, born approx 1/09. Jordan

Meet Jordan! You cant see well in this picture but this boy has deep blue eyes and he is not deaf! Alot of white cats with blue eyes are. Jordan was found with many other cats in a trailer park. He had blood and pus all over his head. We had NO idea what was wrong with him but he was immediately taken to the vet where they determined that he simply had such a bad case of earmites that he had literally scratched himself bloody and infection was setting in. He is very healthy now except that he has tested positive for FIV. All that means is he needs to be an indoor kitty (all kitties should be anyway) and needs to be an only kitty or live with other FIV+. This guy is the purrfect lap cat/couch potato. He gets along great with other cats and would love nothing more then to be your buddy lap cat. He is so laid back and never tears things up or causes trouble. Wont you give this big boy the chance he deserves?  FIV+

We are not really sure of Tom Tom's age but he had been living as a neighborhood cat for a few years but suddenly started losing weight and having horrible stools, so he was brought into the shelter to get healthy. He still has some intestinal issues but he is fattening up just fine! He is a super sweet boy and just needs somewhere to unpack his bags. Tom Tom does have the FIV virus but his vet care will be paid for by HELP for his lifetime if you can give him the family he deserves. Tom Tom, boy, born approx 2004. Lila

Lila is one of the sweetest kitties at the shelter. She is so affectionate and loves attention and to get affection herself. She cries for attention all the time and its just the sweetest cry you could imagine. Lila just needs a quiet home environment. She is very sensitive and too much chaos just makes her unnerved and she tends to hide. Lila would really thrive as an only lap cat companion to someone or with one other quiet feline friend. She is also front paw declawed. Lila, girl, born approx 2006

This is such a sweet guy, he showed up at a volunteers home looking sadly through the door for a bit of food. He scarfed it down like he hadnt been fed in quite some time. After showing up a couple times this way, the volunteer took him in to get neutered and vaccinated. We then found out that he has the Feline Leukemia virus. He is now living at the shelter and hoping for the special family he deserves. Lavry, boy, born approx 2005. Dear sweet soul Jackson, anyone who meets him falls in love with him. Jackson was taken from a hoarder. A hoarder is one that has many, many cats and cannot provide proper care for them. That is how Jackson lost his eye. It was so diseased and causing him so much pain that we have the veterinarian remove it. That changed him from a timid boy to one who seeks affection, ALOT! Jackson does have a sinus issue and unfortunately makes him go into sneezing fits and snot goes flying......honestly, its not pretty but we know he just cant help it. Jackson, affectionately known as One-Eyed Jack, boy, born approx 2001.

Handsome is just that! What a gorgeous Russian Blue this boy is! Someone moved out of their home and just left him to try and survive. The neighbors fed him and took care of him as best they could until someone finally decided to get him neutered. It was then that they found out that he had Feline Leukemia. He doesnt get along with other cats and can be very aggressive, but what a love bug he is for people affection! Of course, he wont get to live a long life but what a difference you could make in the life of a kitty that wont get to live a long time! Handsome, boy, born approximately 2004 or 2005, Russian Blue. Blond boy is desperate for affection, he simply cannot get enough. He will grab your hand if you stop petting him and draw it back to him. He gets along with most other cats, but it seems that if another cat provokes him, he gets upset and goes into a fighting mode. He was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia about 3 yrs ago but is still healthy as a horse, FeLV+ cats just need to be monitored for any health concerns. Of course, he wont get to live a long life but what a difference you could make in the life of a kitty that wont get to live a long time! Blond Boy, boy, born approximately 2002 or 2003. MayKat - This little doll baby was given a crummy hand in life. At only 6 months old, she found herself in Animal Control and worse, she was diagnosed with Feline Leukemia and about to be killed. We were contacted by a caring person to see if we would have room for MayKat to come to our shelter.   Unfortunately, we had just lost 2 kitties but fortunately for MayKat, that meant there was room for her. She is such a pleasure to be around, so fun and loving. Even though she wont get to live a real long life, she still deserves to live it. If you have no other cats and would consider giving MayKat a chance, you wouldn't be disappointed. Or maybe you have a special kitty with Feline Leukemia that would love to have a friend, please consider MayKat. MayKat, girl, born approx 8/07. Yeah, I gave 'em hell, sure did, but I got it back too! So, if Gibson's face looks funny, it's because of the wounds he suffered in a fight before he was rescued and sent to a local veterinarian. They fixed up his wounds (and pride) and now he is neutered and ready to go to his new home. He is a flame point Himilayan mix. He is very animated and affection. He adores people, he cries for attention, oh and he will tell you if his box needs scooping.....he doesnt like that stuff sitting around, yuk! Gibson, boy, born approx 2002. Phoenix is such a coach potato, so if you are looking for someone to share a couch and a movie, here is your boy! You cant see in this picture but he is a classic tabby, the pattern swirls and has bullseyes. He sure hopes his family comes along soon to share some couch time. FIV+

Columbo is a gorgeous boy with unique patterns in his coat. He was trapped in a neighborhood that was working on TNRing feral cats, but Columbo is not feral, so he joined us at the shelter. He is a little nervous, so he wouldnt do well with small children. He is great with other cats but he has tested positive for Feline Leukemia, so he could only be with other cats that have the same disease or you could adopt 2 from us! He has a limp on his hind leg from an injury that healed before it could be set straight, sometimes he favors it alot but other times you can hardly tell. Columbo, boy, born approx 2005. Sunni is a gorgeous Russian Blue........ when he was a tiny baby, he had horrible bloated stomach problems.  It was determined that he had Mega Colon.  After an extensive surgery to fix it, he actually had problems with the stool leaking.  That is much better now but the vet just doesnt know a long term prognosis on a cat this young with this type of surgery.....its usually done on older cats.  Sunni is AWESOME with other cats, he shows the newbies around and makes them feel comfortable.  He loves people and affection.  We hope he finds his special family!

Alamo is a real love bug! He is a tad bit battle scarred but not a lot. He is happy to be inside and warm and snuggly but he is missing one thing, his person's lap! Please give him the chance at a family that he deserves, he wont ask for much! Alamo does have FIV but that just means he needs to be an indoor only cat (and they all should be) and that he might not fight off a cold as easily as a cat without FIV, but antibiotics helps! Look at that FACE! How could you resist such a sweet plea!!? Ellis is a young Snoeshow boy that has a gentle spirit. He honestly lives to be loved. He loves to get as CLOSE as possible to his person. That includes your face, so if you like a kitty that you can REALLY snuggle with, Ellis is a good choice. When he knows I am about to sit down, we have a race to the chair because he just cant wait to get on a lap. He has been through tough times, we know this because of the condition he was rescued in. He has deep blue eyes that he holds looking down. Ellis does have FIV but thats not a death sentence for an indoor kitty. They can live just as long as those that dont have it. He just needs a chance, can you give him one?
