These precious little souls were found abandoned in our parking lot on Tues morning, Sept 11, all 13 of them!  There were 9 in boxes taped shut and 4 were curled up together behind our trash can.  Part of one litter were clearly too young to be away from their mama, yet they were left to shiver in the night wondering what had happened to them and where was their mama!!  We gathered them all up and got them to safety.  We gave them warmth, food and water for their bellies.  Almost all 13 of them slept most of the day, they were clearly exhausted from their ordeal.  Most of them began to act kitten like by the second day but some of the younger ones are struggling but we are in the battle to get them to the life they deserve!   But we NEED your help!  All of them need to be tested for FeLV and FIV, vaccinated, de-fleaed, wormed and spayed/neutered when they are healthy enough to go home.  Many of them have respiratory
and eye infections.  We could have called Animal Control to pick up the abandoned kittens but then they would have gone to a place where they probably wouldnt have made it out alive.     Please help us help them.....

We named the smaller ones after tough cowboys and cowgirls hoping they will get strength from that.  And the bigger ones after the characters in "To Kill a Mockingbird" where there was always someone to love you and comfort you during hard times.

Poor little K.C.........someone dumped this little guy in our dog area during the night on September 9 with a note saying they could no longer care for their dog that needed medical attention.  Apparently, they thought that the local humane society had money that grew on trees here.  K.C. is a mess, he was covered in fleas and has sores from digging and scratching so much.  Both of his ears are infected and need daily treatment.  He has blood in his stool and its not been determined yet exactly what is causing it, he needs further tests.    Little K.C. is the sweetest little adorable dog.  He loves everyone and doesnt deserve to be where he is.

A Good Samaritan found this little girl struggling.  When looking closer, she found that her whole bottom lip was hanging off with all the teeth roots and jaw exposed.  The Good Samaritan made a donation to help with her care but was unable to keep her or get her the care she needed.  Our veterinarians gave her a 50/50 prognosis, there was no way for her to eat unless they could suture the lip back over the bone and roots.  We all held our breath and waited.  The wound looked like she had been cut with something, it was a clean cut, not torn.  We think maybe she was trying to eat out of a can in a trash recepticle and it cut it open.  Little Chenille was a fighter and not about to let this take her out of the game of life.  The picture on the left was a couple days after surgery to suture the lip back on.  The one on the right is her now, the sutures have been removed and she is ready to go!  She is such a little character, all sorts of full of life!!
