CATS! CATS! CATS!
All HELP cats are FeLV/FIV tested. They have received age appropriate vaccinations.  They have been dewormed and spayed/neutered.  We can tell you their good and bad habits.  We will tell you!  We are looking for a lifetime commitment to these cats so we look for a good match.  The adoption donation is $90.00 which includes all the above, or if you are adopting a pair, we have a special adoption fee of $150.00 for the pair.
Want to make a big difference?  We have special needs cats here.  They will bring you much love and joy if you give them the chance they need.  Many of them only need patience to allow them to trust.

Larry was on his own with no claws, now talk about a love bug, good grief. This boy is an in-your-face kind of guy.  He loves to give face rubs and head butts.  He truly loves affection and loves to give it.  He will almost swallow you up with affection.  He is so laid back, whatever is going on, he is fine with, just as long as he can get some attention!  Larry, boy, declawed, born approx. 2004.

Is this the cutest little face EVER?  Megan was adopted out as a kitten but brought back because of a family split.  She is very petite and very adaptable.  She is very affectionate and loving but also really enjoys playtime.  She would do great with other cats, dogs or kids.  We hope we can find her forever home this time, so does she!  Megan, girl, born approx. 2006.

You might think that Pharoah is made or mean when you look at him but this poor boy is ANYTHING but, he is super affectionate and loving.  His ears are almost like stones, they are rock hard.  Pharoah was found outside with no claws and wondering.  The veterinarian thinks that he had some injuries to his ears and that scar tissue built up, which is the reason they are so hard.  This poor guy needs a family that will protect him from such injuries in the future, he is such a deserving boy!  Pharoah, boy, declawed, born approx. 2005.

Krysta is a survivor, she is such a tiny girl but was even more tiny when she arrived at the shelter.  Her mouth was literally rotting away and she couldnt really eat food.  With some TLC, she gained enough weight to be able to have surgery to remove the rotting teeth.  She has such spunk, she is just hysterical to watch.  She plays so hard and entertains herself.  Although we believe this little long haired beauty is going on 5 yrs old, no one can believe it, because she is so petitie and playful.  She is very bossy, but she gets away with it at the shelter.  Krysta, girl, born approx. 2005.

Austin is a super sweet boy that is so laid back.  He loves attention and affection.  He is not rattled by much, he appears to just go with the flow.  He is great with other cats and has even hung out with some dogs & puppies.  He is not intrusive at all, even though he loves attention, he is not an in-your-face sort of boy.  Austin, boy, born approx. 2006.

Electric was given up by his family because they could not afford his veterinary care.  He is front paw declawed and very laid back.  He does love attention and will ask for it, literally, he is quite the talkative boy and such an extremely handsome one also, this picture doesnt do him justice.  Electric, boy, born approx. 2005.

This face is adorable isnt it?  She is just ate up with gorgeous!  Reese is at least part Persian as her face is slight smushed, she might be a purebred with the less smushed face, but we are not sure.  She is very affectionate and loves attention.  She is fairly petite also.  She appears to get along with other cats and even tolerates dogs.  She is quite confident, so not too much bothers her, so she would probably do well with children also.  Reese, girl, born approx. 2008.

This little princess is quite the show off, she will do whatever it takes to get your attention so you will love up on her!  She is a gorgeous Maine Coon girl and knows all sorts of tricks to get the attention of visitors to the shelter, besides her stunning looks, she is super sweet!  She was dumped in our parking lot in a carrier, so we dont know a whole lot about her, except she deserves a family that appreciates what a doll baby she is!  Brenna, girl, Maine Coon born approx. 2008.

This little dreamboat is just the best little love bug ever.  She is so quiet and non intrusive yet if you give her the attention and affection she craves, she will snuggle up to you like no one's business.  She is super affectionate.  When she came to us the first time she had 7 babies with her, she was such a good mama, she found a home but was returned because of allergies.  She has the most adoring emerald eyes and she is so petite.  She is awesome with all other cats and is very adaptable, wont you give her a furever home?  Cozumel, girl, born approx. 2005.

Little Chelsea came to us as a kitten and we found out that she was probably born with a crooked spine.  It doesnt bother her at all in fact, it makes her even more special.  She is very sweet and affectionate, she loves attention and would sit on your lap for as long as you would let her.  She is a very petite girl, she only weighs about 7 lbs.  She loves to play and gets along great with other cats.  She was adopted out but returned because of allergies, we would love for her to find her furever family, is that you?  Chelsea, girl, born approx. 2005.

Poor little Bettye, she was rescued as a bit older kitten and just hasnt quite gotten how to interact well with 2 legged humans.  She LOVES attention and affection and loves to give it also.  However, like when 2 cats groom each other, they do some biting and she feels the need to do that with people.  We are working with her and she is trying, however, if love bites are not something that you tolerate, probably should look on.  But if you would like a sweet baby with lots of love to give, little Bettye has it.  She gets along great with other cats, but is sometimes intimidated by the more "assertive" ones, but she is never aggressive with other cats.  In her previous home, she was around dogs, so she would probably do very well in a home with cat friendly dogs.  Bettye, girl, born approx. 2007.

This petite little girl was dumped to fend for herself and she has no front claws!  Imagine how she must have felt!  JJ still has so much kitten in her, its very entertaining to watch her run about after imaginary prey or fake fuzzy mouse!  She is also very affection and loving.  She will roll around in your lap soaking up every bit of attention that you will give her.  She really needs a family that will keep her indoors and safe.  She appears to be ok with some cats, but gets overwhelmed with the numbers that she is living with at the shelter.  JJ, girl, born approx. 2008.

Pixie came up to a Good Samaritan's home and promptly had babies. What is even sadder about that, Pixie is barely more then a kitten herself!  This Good Samaritan could not afford to keep them, but didnt want to see them carted off by Animal Control, so they tried their best to care for them, but money was tight and they were not able to feed them much.  They finally found us and asked for help.  We were so sad to see such skinny cats and kittens but knew the family was trying their best.  We got the cats and kittens into our care and they are normal weights now and ready for a family.  Pixie is VERY affectionate and loving.  She is overwhelmed with too many other cats but would be great with just one or two others.  She is confident and not too rattled by alot of noise or chaos, she just wants love, have you got extra that you could give her?  Pixie, girl, born approx. 2008.

Now this guy has been through some really bad times in his life. When he showed up as a stray to a family, they thought he had had his paw pads severed partially off.  In panic, they took him to the veterinarian to get him help.  After evaluation, it was found that Brody has an autoimmune disease and basically his immune system was attacking him causing his paw pads to be HUGE and squishy.  After a long treatment he is finally all better now and needs his family!  He is one of those tough kitties, tough skin, battle wounds, but the sweetest most gentle little spirit!  We hope to be able to find him a home that will make up for the ugliness he has had to endure in his life.  Brody, boy, born approx. 2005.

Is this an adorable face or what?  And she is just as adorable in "purson".  She is very sweet and affectionate!  This poor girl was dumped with 5 older kittens at someone's farm home.  It must have been a relief for her to be rescued, because she slept really hard for a few days after arriving, but is wide eyed and a happy girl now!  Claiborne is very affectionate and loving.  She still has lots of kitten in her when she gets going with toys.  Such a shame that she was dumped with her babies to fend for herself!  She is a confident kitty that appears to get along with other cats and wasn't too freaked out with the dogs.  She would probably do well with children as she is not too rattled with strange noises and lots of action!  Can you show her that not all humans will dump their kitties but will instead make them a part of the family?  Claiborne, girl, born approx. 2008.

Although hard to tell from this picture, Snookie has a little smushed in face, apparently she has some Exotic Shorthair in her bloodline.  Her eyes are very sleepy looking but we believe that is a trait of her breed.  She is front paw declawed and was on her own when she showed up at someone's house looking for help.  She is a bit confused right now and wonders why she is now living with many kitties at the shelter.  She does get overwhelmed with all the kitties but tries her best to show that she is not afraid.  However, sometimes she just cant help it, and without front claws, who could blame her?!  Snookie is petite in she is short to the ground and not very long, but she does have a round belly :-) which makes her all the more adorable.  When she talks to you, not much comes out but a tiny meow.  She can purr up a storm when she starts to feel comfortable. Snookie would prob not do well with children because alot of action makes her a bit anxious!  She hopes her family will come soon, because she is a bit scared living with all these other cats!  Snookie, girl, born approx. 2007.

Don't let this petite little girl fool you, she is very much a calico and can hold her own with the "boys".  She is so cute and tiny!  She will fly around the room chasing her toys and if one of the other cats gets in her way, she gives them the old "ummm, no, that is my toy" look!  She is very confident and not rattled by the changes.  She would do well with children that know how to treat animals and would be a good companion for children that would like to interact with toys and a pet.  Charlize was found ina neighborhood apparently abandoned when her owner's moved away.  She was begging for food from a feral cat feeder for quite some time before the feeder was able to locate us to take her in.  Charlize, girl, born approx. 2008.

JR is one of those big boys that you just cant help but love!  He is affectionate and talkative and BIG!  JR went to a home 5 years ago and was recently returned because the owner said she got allergies.  JR is very confused about what is going on, he has suddenly ended up in a shelter without his family and he is very confused.  He loves attention and affection.  He needs someone that will give him a forever home as being dumped into a shelter at 5 years old is really tough on a poor animal!  You have to see this guy to really see how gorgeous he is marked.  JR is hoping that his family comes soon, so he can truly unpack his bags.  JR, boy, born approx 2004

Is this girl ate up with gorgeous?!  And even though she may know she is gorgeous, she doesnt show it.  She is affectionate and silly.  You have to smile watching this girl play with her toys, tossing them up just to chase them down and shred them with her hind legs!  Natalie walked into a trap while HELP was working on TNR (trap/neuter/return) of feral cats.  She was not feral but boy, was she hungry!  She looks bigger then she is because of all that fur coat!  She appears to get along ok with other cats.  Wouldnt you love to call this doll baby your own?  Natalie, girl, Maine Coon,  approx. 2008

Found exploring during the horrible storm in which lightning struck the tanker at the Magellan Gas Company, a Good Samaritan brought him to safety at the shelter.  We aren’t sure if Magellan got outside somehow or if he was dumped, but he was social enough that we knew he wasn’t born feral.  He was definitely taken away from his mom before he was weaned because he still “nurses” on fleece blankets.  Magellan loves to cuddle and has to be in the same room as his human.  He might look like he is asleep on the couch but if you go to bed he will be right behind you, ready to snuggle.  He gets along with other cats and likes to play soccer with his ball.   Magellan, boy, born approx. 3/08

Can you believe that someone would dump this little darling on Christmas Eve, where was their heart??  Clarice (named after Rudolph's girlfriend) looked in our door at the shelter on Christmas Eve.  We brought her into safety and warmth to find out that not only was she on her own outside on a dreadfully cold night, but she didnt have front claws!  Clarice loves to play like a kitten but also loves to snuggle.  She is a bit scared of other cats so she would fair best in a home without other cats.  She would love to find her family soon, so she wouldnt have to live with all these kitties at the shelter.  Clarice, girl, declawed,  approx. 2007

This BIG boy is such a doll!  Peanut is all 4 paw declawed, which truly should be outlawed, but unfortunately it is not.  Peanut does well with other cats, despite having no claws.  He is very people oriented and loving.  Peanut needs an eye med 3 times a week to make sure that his eyes dont flare up.  We can talk with you more about this if you have questions.  We would also be happy to let you speak with his vet to get all the info that you would need.  Please dont let this deter you from choosing Peanut, he still deserves to have his own family!  Peanut, boy, approx. 2000

Does this little thing have the cutest mustache?  Lil is a princess that believes that princess' should be treated as such and have no others in her kingdom.  The sad thing about Lil is that she is an older girl and has lived in the same home most her life.  However, because of some unforseen circumstances, she is living in the shelter.  You can imagine how hard it is on her, she is up there in years, doesnt like other cats and now she is in a shelter with lots of other cats everywhere.  Can you give this sweetie pie (she is GREAT with people) a family and home where she wouldnt feel threatened with other cats around?  She will repay you will affection and love!  Lil, girl, born approx. 1998

This little girl has THE most adorable face!  It has a bit of a squishy thing going on.  Ambra was brought in by Animal Control when she was a baby, she was a bit of an older kitten, so she didnt socialize up well.  She will need someone that is willing to give her the time she needs to trust.  She is AWESOME with other cats and once she decides she can trust you, she will soak up the attention and affection like a sponge!  Ambra, girl, born approx. 2006

Puffy is an active, vocal cat. He does not like to be held much but loves to talk and play. Puffy is shy outside of familiar surroundings and takes a while to adjust to change. He has not done well in our shelter because of this and is in a foster home to make things less stressful for him. He gets along well with both older and younger cats. He needs to be in a home with other cats for companionship. If you are interested in meeting Puffy contact the shelter and arrangements can be made for you to meet him.  Puffy, male, approx. 8/07

Smokey Vaughn has had some bad luck these last couple months.  His guardian passed away the day after Christmas and him and all his family was suddenly gone.  Then after entering the shelter, it was discovered that he developed glaucoma in his eye and it had to be removed.  Smokey is a senior about 10 yrs old and doesn't deserve this at this point in his life.  He is a huge lap cat, in fact, you could never visit his previous home without finding Smokey on his guardian's lap.  He just wants someone to love and be a couch potato with.  If you are a senior and are interested in adopting a senior kitty, please ask us about reduced adoption fees for senior to senior adoptions. Smokey Vaughn, boy, born approx 1999.

This painted beauty was returned to our shelter just hours before she would have been killed at the Olathe Animal Control.  You see, someone declawed this beauty and alot of declawed cats are biters and she is one.  But instead of returning her to us at the shelter, they called AC on her and she spent 10 days on rabies watch, although she was current on vaccinations.  She had been given the death penalty but luckily we arrived at the AC to get her before they killed her.  She is VERY scared of other cats because of being declawed and she is a biter also because of that, but she does love attention and affection.  This gorgeous girl just needs someone to understand that she has been through alot and would need understanding for the rest of her life, some of us just arent handed a good hand :-(  Demi, girl, born approx 2006.

Priscilla is a 4-legged victim of foreclosures.  Her family lost their home and instead of trying to find a place for her, they simply left her behind.  She is very frightened in the shelter but when you have her alone in a room, she snuggles and cuddles and relaxes, so she would need a quiet home with a loving family, no children under 5.  Priss III, girl, born approx 2005.

Thomas K was found in a barn scavenging for food, he was very hungry and unsure of what his future was going to be.  A Good Samaritan rescued him and brought him to the shelter.  He is still unsure of things but loves to get affection from the volunteers and would love to find a home where he could unpack his bags.  Thomas K, boy, born approx 2006.

Little Brooke was born in our care a couple years ago.  She was adopted by a couple but she got outside and was hit by a car.  Her family didnt want her back, so she came back to the shelter.  Her front leg has been amputated due to the injuries received when she was hit by the car, however, she gets around with no trouble at all, she hopes that her next family will keep her for her lifetime.  Brooke, girl, born approx 2006.

Is this little angel adorable or what?  She is an Abyssinian mix and is very petitie.  She was found in a neighborhood where someone had calously dumped her to fend for herself.  She wasnt doing such a good job of that, so someone rescued her and she is now safe.  She is a little scared at first but warms up in a few minutes.  She wouldnt do well with children under 10, but would love to share her affection with a family that wont leave her on her own again.  Ana Mae, Abyssinian mix, girl, born approx 2007.

Blackie Vaughn is having a difficult year, his guardian passed away the day after Christmas 2007 and he found himself in a shelter sharing all the attention.  He is so not used to that, his guardian loved him dearly but the guardian's family didnt, so he ended up in the shelter and is now looking for another loving home.  He is a BIG kitty, that is also a character!  He is the BEST headbutter you can imagine!  Blackie Vaughn, boy, born approx 2002

Do you see this little beauty queen's beauty mark?  Josie was found in a feral colony but was a dumpee.  She was scrounging for food and the ferals were running her off.  She was extremely emaciated and scared, but she made up for lost time and is now a plus size but no extra adoption fee required :-)  She is very affectionate and is looking for a family to share a couch with, is that you?  Josie, girl, born approx 2004.

Danielle is one lucky kitty.  She showed up on the porch of a nice caretaker who was participating in a trap-neuter-return program for feral cats.  This trusting, innocent youngster decided to take a nap in the yard of a cat-aggressive dog.  She almost used up one of her nine lives scaling the fence after the dog rushed her, but she escaped his big jaws by an inch.  The dog's owner thought it was funny!  She was rescued right after that awful incident and hopes to never again fear for her life. Danielle is an easygoing girl who is friendly towards other cats.  She's not pushy or demanding, but she delights in attention, likes being held, loves to chase balls, and is very sweet.  She has interesting copperish eyes and the cutest little white tail tip and white toes. Danielle or Dani (as we call her), girl, born approx 11/07.

Andy's family sent him to our shelter.  He had been unwanted for some time and we finally got him worked into the shelter.  He is quite confused as to what happened to him but he wants affection and attention from the volunteers.  He is quite talkative and would make a great companion for someone who would promise to not send him away.  Andy, boy, front declawed born approx 2004

ZigZag's 2008 didn't start off well, his owner passed away the day after Christmas 2007 and ZigZag and his feline siblings were out on the street.  HELP Humane Society was able to get all the kitties to safety but now they are all looking for new families.  Many of them are seniors, as is ZigZag.  By the way, he got his name because when his guardian rescued him, he had a zig zag open wound on his head.  The veterinarian thought that he had been up under a car trying to keep warm and someone started the engine, luckily he survived.  Zig Zag is a senior Manx that is not that crazy about other cats, but if they dont bug him, he is not an aggressor.  He would just like to have a lot of lap time, he sleeps alot, and would like to snuggle with someone while taking care of that business. ZigZag, boy, born approx 2000.

This gorgeous Maine Coon girl Tilly is quite a prissy little thing.  She knows she is drop dead gorgeous.  She was brought in by a Good Samaritan, however, they didn't realize that she was nursing kittens, so many volunteers set out to find the babies but they were no where to be found.  We like to believe that they were rescued.  Its clear that Tilly has been on her own, she is quite independent, although likes affection, its always at her own pace.  She does NOT like children, in fact, she will chase them and bite them if they run or make racket, so no children under 10 in her new family.  If you are looking for a family member that is not completely dependent on your time, Tilly, girl, born approx 2006.  No children under 10.  Maine Coon.

Isnt this a gorgeous face?  Elena is so affectionate and loving, she needs someone that would be happy to spend quality time with her as she longs for affection constantly.  She would be fine with other kitties and also as a lone kitty as long as her family has time to spend with her.  She was adopted out and returned because she didn't want to be friends with the family dog.  So, although, she would probably be fine with dogs, we doubt she would become a fast friend with one, so she probably wouldn't be a good choice if you are looking for a friend for your dog.  Elena, girl, born approx 2005.

Missy was trapped as part of a TNR program, so she has an eartip.....but she is not feral.  She loves to perch on your shoulder and give you face rubs from the side.  She doesnt, however, like being around other cats, so she spends so much of her time here in a cage, which is very sad.  We hope she can find her family soon, one tMissy, girl, born approx 2004

Pearlie is one exotic looking kitty....she has gorgeous markings and a wide nose and huge paws!  No one thinks she is a specific breed but wow does she look exotic.  She is timid at first but once she warms up, she is a real love bug.  She doesnt like to be picked up but is very affectionate and loving.  She would do best with another feline friend.  Pearlie, girl, born approx 5/06.

Glory, named for her coat color, red/white and blue calico, we affectionately call her "Glory Be".  This little lady was more then confused when she was dumped by her "mom" back into the shelter when she decided not to take her with her in a move.  Glory was terrified and confused and lashed out at all staff.  Luckily, we understand the confusion of losing your family can have on an animal, so with lots of patience and understanding, she is nothing but loving with the staff now.  She is not great with other cats and really would prefer to be the queen with at least one lap to call her own.  She promises to be loving and loyal in return.  Glory, girl, born approx 2004

Violet, female, born approx 4/06.

Hi, I am Violet…you know like the flower. I tolerate canines, humans and love moonlit nights with bugs near the window. I am funny, energetic and very outgoing. I love to lie in awkward positions, especially on my back and in what many humans call a spread eagle position. In addition, I am a little on the hefty side, but I prefer the word fluffy when discussing my weight. Foster mom says she love to hold me because it is like holding a human baby. But, enough of that; I am very strong willed and do not take no for an answer. I have been known to follow my furless (human) roommates around until they produced the goods I wanted….love and affection! Therefore, this just gives you a taste of my true identity; but, I have one downfall. Like my siblings, I get a little upset when I visit the animal shelter on the weekends. This is because I see and smell other felines which make me nervous and upset. So, if you are interested, foster mom does not mind if you visit me or if I have friends over. This is so we can truly get a feel for one another and if we would be good compatible forever roomies.

Keiko, female, born approx 4/06  The tortie WITH the striped face - truly a beautiful expression.  She loves to watch the birds on the wires outside and those flying in for a tidbit of feral cat food.  She cackles away while watching them, she is just sure if she is patient enough, she will be able to catch one.  She is very affectionate and loving, in fact, she will actually take a break from bird watching in order to get attention!  Keiko, girl, born approximately 4/06

I am the only boy in a litter of girls, and although that’s a lot of estrogen….I can hold my own! I am definitely a dominant boy; however, I am a cuddle bug and love a good massage. I even ask for it by meowing. How many critters or even humans are that direct?? In addition, I am not all about talking and taking. I love to give my siblings baths and take a nap with them in the sun. Therefore, I am in touch with my feminine side but still remain a manly man! However, like my sisters (Violet, Pansy and Daffodil), I don’t put on a good show when foster mom takes me to the shelter on weekends for the sole purpose of showing that I am available bachelor. To help combat my one “hang up” or issue, you are more than welcome to arrange a visit to my foster home. This should help to determine if I am the right man for you!
Snap Dragon, male, born approx 4/06.

Suzette and her siblings were born at the shelter in March.....they reached adoptable age in May.....adoptions always fall to nothing during May and June.  They start back up again in July but by that time, this litter of kittens were teenagers and there were hundreds of tiny kittens everywhere, adopters chose the tiny kittens.  So this litter has grown up in the shelter and we think they deserve to go home......so the shelter staff and volunteers have collected money to pay the difference in the reduced adoption fee and the regular one.  They are all very sweet and loving.  They have adorable faces and really long to have a lap to lie on instead of just a chair in their room.  Please give them the chance they deserve!  Suzette, girl, reduced adoption fee to $50.00, this girl has been at the shelter too long, she needs to go home!  Born approx 3/06.

Pansy, girl, born approx 7/06.  I live in a foster home with my siblings, a dog and a family of the human kind.  Anyway, I have been there since I was a wee baby and I love my digs.  However, due to this level of comfort, I get upset, growl and hit at my furry brother and sister when foster hom takes me to the shelter on weekends....she does this so potential forever families can meet me.  since that place does not bring out the best in me, let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am 6 inches from the ground, gray and white, short haired and love a cozy place to take a nap.  I can be shy and quiet or will hide if you make me mad; but, at other times I am a lap kitty and will not let you get away without a snuggle or a stoke on my ears.  Theefore, you'd better be good with your hands!  I dont readily like the canine species; but, if you give me a little time I can adjust and live harmoniously....I have finally accepted my obnoxious Border Collie foster cousin!  In addition, I would do well if I was adopted with one of my sibling; but, I am unsure if I could stand another "feline fur ball" that I dont know.  Putting me in this situation may be asking a little much.  Let me know if I spark your fanc; and, if so, other arrangements can be made so that you can see me at my best or within my comfort zone.   Here's an example Click here to watch

Our dear little sweet spirited Vidi.  Vidi came to the shelter through Animal Control last spring.  He came with a mama and 2 very tiny siblings.  They were all very sick.....his siblings didnt make it, but Vidi decided he was not giving up and he fought back.  He is now about 8 months old and still fights bacterial infections.  From experience in the past with these type cases, at about 1 yr old, they seem to have better immunities and seem to finally not get more infections.  We hope the same for Vidi, after all, he did his part by fighting back, now we are doing our part by helping him to grow into a big boy!  Vidi, boy, born approx 5/06.

What a character this guy is!  He is full of spirit, life and love!  He does play hard and would need a buddy that could keep up with him, so an older resident kitty wouldnt be a good idea for him.  But if you are wanting a new family member and one that would be buddies and romp with a young kitty, Stallone would be a great choice.  When he came into the shelter, he had a fat lip, that is how he was named....Stallone, boy, born approx 7/06.

Is this a doll baby or what?  Gabi was found with a feral colony trying to find food for her hungry belly!  She is such a sweet adorable little thing.  She is an exotic shorthair, see her little smooshed face, that alone can melt your heart!  She loves to snuggle and gets along great with other cats.  She wouldnt do well with young children though as she gets nervous with too much commotion.  Gabi, girl, born approx 2006.

Such a sweet little girl this is, however, she can be a little apprehensive with people.  The way to win her over is to offer people food.  Poor Caviar came from a bad situation where the people didnt have enough money to care for all their cats, so the cats had to scavenge for food, we believe that they were fed leftover table scraps because she is obsessed with people food.  So, if this is something that would bother you, best to not choose this girl.  With understanding and reassurance, she will understand that she doesnt need to scavenge anymore.......Caviar, girl, born approx 5/06.

This buff classic tabby boy had a rough beginning.  A police officer had to free him from a stack of pallets at the local Quik Trip.  Dupont was NOT happy about his troubles, he was very frightened, covered in oil and just wasnt sure what would happen to him next.  He did learn that the Humane Society humans and vet employees were good to him and therefore, he was no longer frightened.  He got cleaned up and now he is gorgeous!  Dupont is blind in one eye from a infection that he got before he was rescued.  It doesnt stop him from playing an having a great time though.  Dupont would need another kitty in his new family or maybe you would want to adopt 2!  Dupont, boy, born approx 7/06.

Is this girl gorgeous or what?!  Nikita was a feral kitten when she was brought in by animal control.  She was put through our TNR (trap, neuter & return) program for feral cats.....which is why you see an eartip.  While recovering from her vetting she decided that she would like to be tame and stay inside with the 2-leggeds that appeared to be taking care of her every need.   So she stayed.....she is very affectionate and is awesome with other kitties.......how can you resist that?!  Nikita, girl, born approx 2005

This buff boy is just handsome.  He goes crazy for toys and will chase a laser light all day.  He gets along with everyone including other cats and dogs.  He has one habit that could come in handy, he likes to chew on hair.  So you wont have to worry about a hair brush, let Manny be your hair dresser, playmate and companion!  Manny, boy, born approx 04-2006

Virgo came from the ghetto.....the ghetto meaning a trailer with literally hundreds of stray cats just multiplying uncontrollably...no one cared.  She made her way into the home of a single mother without her observing......suddenly the single mother heard faint cries from her bedroom closet and found Virgo there with a newborn litter of kittens.  Unable to financially care for her, she asked HELP to take her and her litter.  She is learning not to gulp her food, we keep reassuring her that her bowl will always get filled but she is not quite convinced yet but trying.  She is affectionate and attentive, she would make a wonderful quiet companion with very few requests.....one being a full food bowl.  Virgo, girl, born approx 2005

Raejean is a timid girl with a ugly past.  We think she deserves better, dont you?  She was kept in a home with a family that refused to get veterinary care for thier animals and the cats multiplied to an huge number.  When they saw that Raejean and her sister Karla were about to deliver kittens again, they dumped all 12 into our shelter.  Raejean is just not sure how to trust but given quiet reassurance, she warms up.  We still think she deserves to have a family that will give her that.  No children under 10.  Raejean, girl, born approx 2005

Felix is a lover boy when he gets to know you.  He loves affection and attention from people and gets along great with other cats.  He is a tab bit timid at first, which is truly sad, because he is a black cat and they get overlooked so often in animal shelters.  Add his bit of scardey cat in there and we know we must have a special family before he gets a chance at adoption.  Are you that special family?  Felix, boy, born approx 2004

You cant really tell from this picture but Cookie's face is smashed in just a little, like their must be Persian or something in her background.  She just has that really sweet look.  She loves to talk but is VERY soft about it and it usually is accompanied by a slow eye blink.  Cookie was found abandoned and locked in a garage where someone had moved out.  We are not sure if it was by accident or intentional but by the time she was rescued, she was not in good shape......it was during the heat of the summer and she was starving and dehydrated.  A veterinarian was actually who found her (lucky her) and brought her back to health so we could find her a good family.......is that you?  Cookie, girl, born approx 2005

Jodie came from a bad situation where they had way too many kitties to properly care for.  When she entered the shelter, she had 2 young kittens and we could barely tell who the mother was!  Such a baby herself.  She is timid at first so no children under 12 please.  Jodie has had a rough time and needs a good stable family that will give her the love and attention she so deserves.  Jodie, girl, born approx 2005

Beth is a young Exotic Shorthair with her stubby little face....she is such a doll!  She is very terrified of dogs and will attack immediately when she sees one, so a home without dogs is needed for Ms Beth.  If you know cats, you know they dont care for belly rubs, but Beth is not your ordinary kitty!  She LOVES belly rubs.  Even though she is a bit timid of people at first she will plop right over if you offer her a belly rub, she just cant resist!  Beth, girl, Exotic Shorthair, born approx 2005

Oasis fits his name well, he is very exotic looking and you cant help but be drawn to him.  He is very affectionate and loving.  He is good with other cats but sometimes gets bullied by very dominant kitties.  He is on a special food but it doesnt cost a whole lot more then regular food.  Its a diet that is bland and high in fiber......he didnt have a good life before he ended up with us so his tummy tolerates the special diet better then regular.  Oasis, boy, born approx 2005

Poor old girl Jezel....she is a senior and a black cat.....two strikes against her....yet  this girl has so much to give.  She asks for so little, a full food bowl, fresh water, a soft place to lay her sweet head and her litter box scooped.  In return, she would love to be a couch potato with you, hear all your troubles from the day and snuggle with you.....she wouldnt be climbing drapes or hanging from the chandeliers....just a soft quiet companion......we hope she gets her wish.........She still has LOTS of years left!   Jezel, girl, born approx 1998

Chevy got his name because he purred like a Chevy engine.  We had no idea that he was purring to calm himself as he was so terrified in the shelter.  We all love him dearly and praise him for being such a brave boy.  We are not sure that anyone would give Chevy a chance because of how scared he is of people, but he would make a great companion kitty for someone who is too busy to give a whole lot more to a new kitty but would like a friend for their own kitty.  Chevy, boy, born approx 2004

Little Ms Trina has not had an easy time in life, apparently someone abused her and she is on her guard because of it.  She needs someone to give her some time and patience to trust but we think she is worth it.  She lives with the fear that someone is going to take her belongings and she realizes that she needs them, so she is protective.  Wont you give her a chance, after all, we all need second chances at something, dont we?   Trina, girl, tuxie, born approx 2005

Poor Imari, what happened to her family?  Did they abandon her in her senior years...or did she get lost and they didnt want to look for her?  We wish we knew.  All we know is she is over 10 yrs old, a mature girl, who has found herself in the middle of an animal shelter.  Now, we have a great place, not your average shelter, but a girl this age should be spending her time as a lap warmer, not alone in an animal shelter!  Someone loved her once....she had already been spayed when she came in.  Her coat was clean and she was a good weight......what could have happened with her........we are hoping someone will give her a good life for her senior years......she would be a good companion for a human senior.  She isnt, however, fond of other cats....another reason she shouldnt have to be in a shelter.  Imari, girl (senior), black/white, born approx 1997

Rochelle is a Hemingway Polydactyl, she has extra toes.   You can see in the picture, she looks like she has baseball mitts on!  She is affection and loving.  Rochelle needs other cats in her new family, or maybe you would consider adopting two!
Rochelle, girl, born approximately 09/05.

Tresselle is a gorgeous Torby girl.  She is full of sprit and zest for life.  She is great with other cats, however, she does play rough, so she needs a kitty friend that would appreciate that and not be scared.  If you try to stop petting her, she will grab your arm with her paw and give you a love bite......best way to handle that, dont stop petting her!  Tresselle, girl, born approximately 2005

Hello, my name is Chimi.  I was abandoned at 3 weeks old I was taken in by HELP Humane Society.  Lucky for me they found me a wonderful surrogate mom she has been really good to me along with my foster mom.  I am the little talker of the litter.  I love to cuddle and play with my other littermates.   I am ready to go to my forever home.  Will you come take me home to love on you?  I’ll be waiting for you.
Chimi, boy, born 4/05.
Prissy was brought in to the shelter with a horrible gash on her neck.  The vet determined that it was a burst abscess, poor baby!  She was out on her own and has not front claws!  How was she going to defend herself?  She is safe at the shelter now, but boy, would she love a home of her own, can you do that for her?  Prissy, girl, born approximately 1999, Front declawed

My name is Cruella.  I got that name because of my beautiful black and white spotted coat and pointy nose.  You may have noticed I'm missing part of an ear -- that's because I as originally trapped in a feral colony and spayed by a vet that takes care of feral cats.  The ears of feral cats are clipped so that rescue groups will know that cat has been spayed/neutered already.  Well, anyway, it was decided after I was spayed and my ear clipped that I wasn't feral, although I was a little wild and not very social. My foster mom has worked with me since I was a baby and I'm a real sweetie now.  I like to play with toys, cuddle on the bed with people at night, lay on calm laps and get petted.  I startle easy still if something unexpected happens and would probably no be a good pet for a child or someone who would want to carry me around all the time.  When people I don't know come to the house I do tend to hide in my foster mom's bedroom with her chicken-cats.  Are you looking for a beautiful girl like me?
Cruella, girl, born approximately 5/05.

Peeka is full of life and spirit, she is a tad food obsessed, meaning she checks it constantly for fullness :-)  She would love to have a home of her own as she is really not crazy about those other felines!  She does like to talk when she has an opinion..........Peeka, girl, born approximately 2001

My name is Beauty and I am a female born approx 9/04.  I am a tad shy buy very loving.  Young children are too fast and loud though, so older children would be best.  I like lots of attention but also dont mind sharing it with other dogs and cats.

Is he just THE most handsome boy?!  Tundra is a VERY affectionate boy that would love to have a lap to lounge on.  He just lives for attention from people.  Although on first approach, he is sometimes apprehensive if he doesnt know you, but it only take a couple seconds for him to get over that if it means he gets some affection.  He loves other cats and would be thrilled to have a family that included feline sisters or brothers!  Tundra, boy, born approximately 8/05.

What to say about Amanda......we believe that Amanda has basically been to hell and back.  She was obviously abused and/or tormented.  She is constantly trying to defend herself and protect her "stuff".  When she calms down, she loves affection but is constantly scared that you will begin tormenting her if she lets her guard down, so she doesnt.  Amanda came to us with a bad open wound around her rear end and lashing out in terror.  The volunteers just love her and are determined to make sure that she gets the patience and tolerance that she needs why we help her to work through her past.  She needs a special person/family (no children) that will continue to help her.  We realize that this type of spcial person may not exist outside of the shelter, but we are hoping, for her sake, we are hoping......

My name is Scamp. I’m a bit shy in new surroundings and when I meet new people, but give me a few days to adjust and I’m fine.
I am an adult cat, but behave more like a kitten. I require lots of toys to play with and would appreciate a good variety. Sometimes, I get so excited over my toys, that I play non-stop for hours.
If you adopt me, I would also like another cat to be my friend, because I get lonely when I’m all alone. I like all cats and will not judge based on gender, color or breed.
I like sleeping with my foster mom. I jump up on the bed and roll and roll until I have made a “nest”, then I nudge her hand so that she is touching me. I enjoy human contact and just wish my foster mom didn’t have to go to something called “work” everyday. But she says she has to go to that place or else she can’t buy me my food and toys, so I guess that’s okay.
My vet has also put me on a special diet of a food called C/D by Science Diet. It is to keep crystals from forming in my urine and I need this special food to stay healthy.
If you would love a cat that will entertain you, keep me in mind.

Scamp, boy. Born 3/05

Porky is a gorgeous loving Russian Blue with a white medallion on his chest.  He is very affectionate with people but is really terrified in the shelter.  He would do fine with other cats but of course, a reasonable number of them, not like the number in the shelter.  He has also been around dogs, so he could handle a sibling of the canine persuasion. He has been waiting for his family for a long time........he is hoping they get here soon!  Porky, boy, born 4/05.

Sonia has not had an easy life, she was born at the Home Depot about 2 yrs ago and has been having kittens every few months since then.  The employees thought they were helping by just giving away her kittens but not getting her spayed.  This made a rough life for her.  She is now spayed and will never have to worry about babies again.   She really loves attention and food :-)  She would do best in a home without children under 10 years old.  She is a blue creme torti wih gorgeous copper eyes who longs to have a safe indoor forever home......

Jasmine was released to HELP because her mommy had to go into a nursing home. Jasmine is a declawed Manx and has never lived in a home with other cats. She is a lap cat and is too sophisticated to be interested in toys. She loves to just watch for entertainment. She has a cute little bobtail, she wags it when she is happy and when she is watching something of interest. The other thing she loves to do is talk. Her foster parents think she sounds a little bit like a lamb baaing. When she runs and jumps she hops like a rabbit. Foster dad keeps telling her she is confused about what kind of animal she is! Jasmine is in a foster home with 4 other cats and this just doesn't make her happy. All her life she thought she was the ONLY cat in the world and now she just can't believe how wrong she has been. Even though Jasmine is 10 years old her life is far from over. Her foster parents think if she could say for herself what type of home she would like she would say "One where they let me sleep on their laps. One where I am the ONLY cat and can be the Princess. I am not sure about kids, but as long as they leave me alone until I decide I like them that would be okay. Also, I have never been around dogs so I think that might be too scary for me. I don't require much but a full bowl of food, a pillow or person to sleep on and someone who will talk to me."

Clover is a gorgeous black and white cat with mittens on her front paws and stockings in the back. She is shy when she first meets people, but is affectionate once she gets to know you. She loves being petted, and will lie on your lap all day if you let her. Though Clover does like her own space at times, if she sees you paying attention to another cat, she will immediately come over and cut in. Clover gets along fine with dogs, and loves being with other cats to the point of need. She would do best if adopted with her sister, Josie. Clover, girl, born 2004.

Josie (Jo) is the family jokester. She is very energetic and absolutely loves playing with her favorite toy. She knows where it is kept and will not hesitate to ask you to get it out and play with her. Jo also likes decent places to perch – especially those provided by people’s backs. If she sees you lean over, she will immediately jump on top of your back. Depending on how long you let her stay there, she will sit or even lie down and enjoy the view. During quiet evenings Jo may choose to lie down next to you on the couch and simply enjoy your company. She loves playing with other cats and gets along well with dogs. Jo would be happiest if she were adopted with her sister, Clover. Josie, girl, born 2004.

I am just undersocialized, and am not happy about being picked up,  but I would make a GREAT  companion for your cat.  I love other cats, just scared of people, but I have come a long way, since foster Mom, took me in.  I do hiss at strangers, but I am only telling them that Im scared of them..  I really am a sweetheart. And a very handsome one at that.

I just love people and other cats.  I had a very bad start in my life, a kind person brought me to the vet, and I was almost dead, my temperature was very low, thus was my namesake.  The nice vet, brought me back, but I get very stiff , when people pick me up, I feel uncomfortable.  When Im in the kennel at the adoption center, I rub on everyone.  I purr loudly, and I love to cuddle under my blanket.  My blanket has to go with me , when Im adopted.   My name is Chilli and I was born  2003.

Hi!  I'm a single guy with an attitude and I'm looking for a like-minded room mate.  I'm a very handsome boy and have a white heart in the middle of my back.  I would not be a good pet for someone with small children or even middle size children as I'm a little unpredictable and when I get stressed or scared I sometimes don't behave well and might scratch or, heaven forbid, even bite one of them.  I don't like other cats and would like to be an "only".  When my foster mom first started taking care of me I was very scared and would scratch and try to bite her all the time....that was quite a while ago and I'm doing great now.  When she pats her check I jump up to be held and cuddled.  She also feeds me yum-yums's (treats) that I take from her hand like a gentleman.  I like it best when she holds me and carries me around although sitting on laps is ok too.  I don't come up to the adoption center to visit as all those cats really stresses me out.  Are you the right person for a special boy like me?

Punkin is a very tiny girl, she only weighs 6 lbs and is a year old.  Her small figure is due to her malnutrion as a baby.  When we rescued her she was pregnant and too small to even have her babies.  She is shy at first but warms up quickly.  She wouldnt do well with young children because they just move too fast and are too loud.  She loves other cats and would need a home with them.  She is good with dogs also.  She has scar tissue covering her tearducts because of the sickness she had so bad when she was rescued, therefore her eyes tear sometimes but she is very healthy now.  She plays VERY hard and would need another cat that would enjoy rough play also..

My name is Spunky and I am a male born approx 4/03.  Foster mom says I am 70% sugar and 30% spice!  I just love to rub, rub, rub and talk, talk talk!  I have very strong hunting instincts which means I like to play with toys and ANYTHING that moves.  Sometimes my hunting includes your dinner plate, so you have to not have a problem with that if you want to adopt me.  One time I snatched a 1/2 of a fajita off foster mom's plate and ran like the dickens, she caught me though...boy time out is not very fun.  I do loving though after a hard day of hunting and I PROMISE to keep you laughing.

Hi all. First off, I must let you know that I defend my right to free speech; which means I talk a lot and feel the need to share my opinion. If no one listens to me, I talk anyway. But I am very sweet and seeking only love in return, plus a bowl full of food.

Some people have over-looked me because I have a sore hip. It hurts when I get touched there, and sometimes I forget it is a human touching me and I get nippy. I don’t intend to be mean, but it hurts and I just want the pain to go away, so sometimes I act before I think.

I also sometimes wet on things that I shouldn’t, like my foster mom’s bed or a pile of laundry. I get really frustrated sometimes and I do this to express my feelings when I don’t know what else to do.

My foster mom loves me regardless of all of my problems, but she, well…..she likes DOGS of all things! So that only means she would love me no matter what. But I need a home of my own, and not just be a foster cat.

I’m just a cranky old lady and I sure hope there is someone out there that will put up with me and love me just the same.

My name is Aubree and I was born in 2000 years old.

My name is Seneca and I am a  male little pistol.  I am sure that I run the show.  When I came to HELP, I was VERY sick with an infection.  So foster mom babied me and so I am a little self centered and sometimes play too rough with the other cats.  I LOVE to play fetch with my little toy furry mice.  I will run and run, fetching it until your arm tires out.  When I return it to you, I need to get my "good boy" petting : -)  I have a tendency to love bite when trying to get attention but I dont do it to try to hurt you.
