CATS! CATS! CATS!
All HELP cats are FeLV/FIV tested. They have received age appropriate vaccinations.  They have been dewormed and spayed/neutered.  We can tell you their good and bad habits.  We will tell you!  We are looking for a lifetime commitment to these cats so we look for a good match.  The adoption donation is $90.00 which includes all the above, or if you are adopting a pair, we have a special adoption fee of $150.00 for the pair.
Want to make a big difference?  We have special needs cats here.  They will bring you much love and joy if you give them the chance they need.  Many of them only need patience to allow them to trust.

HEROES

Shania is one of those cats that are confident and adaptable.  She is also a gorgeous Russian Blue!  She loves virtually everyone and is AWESOME with children.  She was returned to the shelter after an adoption with virtually no sincere explanation.  She was starving for food and attention when she returned.  We want to make sure that she finds a real family this time around, she really deserves it!  Shania, girl, born approx 2005.

Blackie Vaughn is having a difficult year, his guardian passed away the day after Christmas 2007 and he found himself in a shelter sharing all the attention.  He is so not used to that, his guardian loved him dearly but the guardian's family didnt, so he ended up in the shelter and is now looking for another loving home.  He is a BIG kitty, that is also a character!  He is the BEST headbutter you can imagine!  Blackie Vaughn, boy, born approx 2002

Good grief, this kitty cannot get a break!  Sparkle spent her first 5 years of life with a woman who decided to move and not take her with her.  Sparkle came to the shelter, scared, confused and lost.  We helped as best as we could to help her to adjust but the other kitties scared her.  Then she was adopted again, only to be returned to the shelter a few weeks later saying that he was off to boot camp.  Now Sparkle is beside herself even more, not knowing what keeps happening.  Sparkle needs a home where she is the only cat or possibly just one other, she needs a family that will truly make her part of the family........she hopes you will come soon!Sparkle, girl, born approx 2003.

Malibu is a huge love bug just wanting to share his life and love with you.  Sad part in it is he doesn't get along with other cats, so he is in solitude at the shelter.  He loves all people and likes to play like a kitten.  Being a black cat also puts another mark against him because black cats are often overlooked for adoption.  Malibu was adopted to an only cat home but they returned him when the woman got pregnant because the man didn't approve.  What a sad day for Malibu, he thought he had found a home with a family and no other pets and now he is back in the shelter again, can you show him what a real family is like? Malibu, boy, born approx 2005.

Venus is a drop dead gorgeous sweetheart of a kitty!  She loves people and gets along well with other cats.  She is having a difficult time though adjusting to being back at the shelter.  She and her friend Caroline were adopted but when the family moved, they decided not to move the whole family and dumped their kitties back into the shelter.  She is not sure what she did wrong but she would love to find a family where she could unpack her bags and exhale.  How sad that she is also black because so many black cats get overlooked, she is hoping she will be able to stand out in your heart. Venus, girl, born approx 2005.

Smokey Vaughn has had some bad luck these last couple months.  His guardian passed away the day after Christmas and him and all his family was suddenly gone.  Then after entering the shelter, it was discovered that he developed glaucoma in his eye and it had to be removed.  Smokey is a senior about 10 yrs old and doesn't deserve this at this point in his life.  He is a huge lap cat, in fact, you could never visit his previous home without finding Smokey on his guardian's lap.  He just wants someone to love and be a couch potato with.  If you are a senior and are interested in adopting a senior kitty, please ask us about reduced adoption fees for senior to senior adoptions. Smokey Vaughn, boy, born approx 1999.

ZigZag's 2008 didn't start off well, his owner passed away the day after Christmas 2007 and ZigZag and his feline siblings were out on the street.  HELP Humane Society was able to get all the kitties to safety but now they are all looking for new families.  Many of them are seniors, as is ZigZag.  By the way, he got his name because when his guardian rescued him, he had a zig zag open wound on his head.  The veterinarian thought that he had been up under a car trying to keep warm and someone started the engine, luckily he survived.  Zig Zag is a senior Manx that is not that crazy about other cats, but if they dont bug him, he is not an aggressor.  He would just like to have a lot of lap time, he sleeps alot, and would like to snuggle with someone while taking care of that business. ZigZag, boy, born approx 2000.

Shackles is a love bug with 3 legs.  You maybe laughing at his name, he was named by a local police department when he was "their" kitty.  He got out at the station and was hit by a car which mangled his leg, he needed it amputated and that is why he left the police department and came to live at the shelter.  He is very people friendly and affectionate, however, other kitties seem to sense his "difference" from them and seem to pick on him alot.  He is good with other cats that dont pick on him, so if you have a gentle kitty, he would prob do fine with him.  He is also very used to cat friendly dogs. Shackles, boy, born approx 2005.

Now this is a doll baby, she is so sweet and unassuming.  She loves affection and attention but isnt the in-your-face type kitty.  She quietly waits for attention and then when given, she soaks it up like a sponge.  She was found in a trailer park looking for food and a safe place in a not-so-safe area.  A kind person began feeding her and brought her into us.  She has very unique markings and although, she is a muted torti, she doesn't have those characteristics, she is great with other cats and loves to play and snuggle equally. Rona, girl, born approx 2007.

TJ is a boy with "presence" to be sure.  He is a big boy, with a talkative manner so he really knows what he wants, tells you what that is and then waits for action.  He is truly a very affectionate good ole boy!  His dad passed away and no one in that family wanted TJ, so he ended up in the shelter.  He is not accustomed to sharing his quarters with all these kitties and is truly unhappy with being at the shelter.  He just wants to go back home and doesn't understand what happened to the one he had for 5 years.  It would be best to adopt TJ if you are looking to have just a one cat household (we believe there is are some of those families out there), please consider TJ, he would really like to have some well deserved attention and time with a new family. TJ, boy, born approx 2003.

Super Trooper was named by the vet staff that took care of this guy in mid-December when he arrived at their clinic.  It was during the horrible ice and cold during 2007.  He was found by a Good Samaritan frozen into her fence.  He was rescued from there but his leg and partial tail were mangled in the process.  His leg and partial tail had to be amputated.  What a horrible thing for a little guy to go through!  That is how he got his name, even though he was in horrific pain, he never once let anyone know that.  He purred and loved on everyone.  Its as if he knew that he was going to get help.  Oh, and btw, he has NO trouble getting around on 3 legs, he even uses his scratching post well! Super Trooper, boy, born approx 2006.   Only has 3 legs and a partial tail.

April is a gorgeous tuxedo with the cutest white line down her face and the most precious white whiskers.  She has not had good experiences with other cats so she is quite timid of them and if they bully her at all, she is hiding out.  She is very quiet and unassuming but is really starved for attention from people, so if you are looking for a cuddle bug and have no other cats, or ones that will be good to her, she would be a good choice.  All her siblings have found their forever homes, even her mama has, but April was returned to the shelter after adoption because the resident cat was terrorizing her, she hopes she will find her forever home soon!  April, girl, born approx 2005.

When Ariel's owner's home was condemned, they left their kitties inside the boarded up mobile home in the heat of Summer 2007.  The other 2 kitties that were with her have been adopted but she still waits.  Ariel is very vocal and expressive about what she needs or wants, so if you like a talkative, interactive kitty, this little girl would be a great choice!  Ariel maybe 9 yrs old but kitties can live to be in their 20's, so she has lots of love and time to give.  She would prefer to be an only kitty, she is rather bossy with the other kitties and will slap them if they dont conform to her thinking :-) Ariel, girl, born approx 1999.

Mr V is just drop dead gorgeous, and its impossible to catch that in a picture.  He has a smokey undercoat that almost looks like he is losing hair but once you look closely you see its just very unusual coloring.  He is extremely affectionate and would sit on your lap for hours if you will allow it.  His owner passed away the day after Christmas and his family didn't want any of his kitties, so they all came to live at the shelter.  They are all a bit confused and are missing their owner, we hope they will find a permanent family soon. His owner was retired and always was available for a lap to sit on, Mr V is missing that badly :-(  Mr. V, boy, born approx 2005.

Poor Landa.......she came into the shelter in fairly good shape considering she had been on her own and has no front claws.  We thought her family would come to claim her but no one came.  So a new family adopted her, then after a few months, they called us to say that they were bringing her back because they got 2 new puppies and Landa was stressing.  Turns out that Landa was stressing because she had gotten fleas and also had an allergy to them.  So, again, she finds herself in an animal shelter.  She is awesome with kids, she is very laid back.  She is primarily a couch potato....she does ask for attention with a TINY little meow.  She would love a family that would commit to her for her lifetime this time around
Landa, girl, born approx 2004.  Front paw declawed.

Lulu has the sweetest most adorable face that cannot be captured in a picture, you just have to see it.  And her meow is equally adorable, its very small and squeaky like a tiny squeaky toy.  She loves to butt her back up to your hand to make sure that you cover her entire body when petting her, she will also talk to you with her squeaky voice the whole time.  She showed up in a feral colony and had already been spayed.  So at one time, someone did care about her.....wonder what happened to them.....she wonders but is grateful to be safe now and hoping to get a better family this time around.......could it be you?  Lulu, girl, born approx 2006.

Isnt this a gorgeous face?  Elena is so affectionate and loving, she needs someone that would be happy to spend quality time with her as she longs for affection constantly.  She would be fine with other kitties and also as a lone kitty as long as her family has time to spend with her.  She was adopted out and returned because she didn't want to be friends with the family dog.  So, although, she would probably be fine with dogs, we doubt she would become a fast friend with one, so she probably wouldn't be a good choice if you are looking for a friend for your dog.  Elena, girl, born approx 2005.

Felix Vaughn's owner passed away the day after Christmas and his family didn't want any of his kitties, so they all came to live at the shelter.  They are all a bit confused and are missing their owner, we hope they will find a permanent family soon.  Felix is so gorgeous with his classic tabby markings.  He is simply gorgeous.  He is very mild mannered, friendly to everyone but not demanding.  He gets along well with other kitties and has even been around dogs.  He would do well with other kitties or as a lone cat, also would do well with children over 5 yrs old. Felix Vaughn, boy, born approx 2005.

Echo showed up in a feral colony looking for a handout, although not feral, he was apparently dumped to survive on his own.  He has the CUTEST little apple headed round face.  He is talkative but not too intrusive.  He has been resting a lot since being rescued but has gained back his strength.  He is affectionate and adaptable and would love to find a family that will commit to him for the rest of his life. Echo, boy, born approx 2006 or 07.

Fat Cat is doing what he does best, giving up his belly for some attention.  He is just one big couch potato that wants nothing more then some affection, some good conversation and a dependable family.  His former family adopted him and then moved to where he wouldn't be allowed, so he was dumped back into the shelter.  He is great with kids, in fact, he loves them.  Great with other cats, really his only drawback is he needs a big litterbox for his big butt :-)  Fat Cat, boy, born approx 2005.

Isnt CC such a gorgeous girl!  She has the eyes that just draw you in and make you want to know this beautiful girl.  CC is a bit timid in meeting new people but doesnt really take much to convince her that things are fine, a good back scritch can do that.  Someone moved from a neighborhood and left her behind, before she knew it, she was caring for tiny babies with no place to safely raise them.  By the time we were able to save her, she only had one baby left, what a tough thing for a mama cat to face.  She appears to get along with most cats but would be fine as an only kitty too.  Children under 5 would prob be too scary for her.  CC, girl, born approx 2006.

This gorgeous Maine Coon girl Tilly is quite a prissy little thing.  She knows she is drop dead gorgeous.  She was brought in by a Good Samaritan, however, they didn't realize that she was nursing kittens, so many volunteers set out to find the babies but they were no where to be found.  We like to believe that they were rescued.  Its clear that Tilly has been on her own, she is quite independent, although likes affection, its always at her own pace.  She does NOT like children, in fact, she will chase them and bite them if they run or make racket, so no children under 10 in her new family.  If you are looking for a family member that is not completely dependent on your time, Tilly, girl, born approx 2006.  No children under 10.  Maine Coon.

Missy was trapped as part of a TNR program, so she has an eartip.....but she is not feral.  She loves to perch on your shoulder and give you face rubs from the side.  She doesnt, however, like being around other cats, so she spends so much of her time here in a cage, which is very sad.  We hope she can find her family soon, one tMissy, girl, born approx 2004

Glory, named for her coat color, red/white and blue calico, we affectionately call her "Glory Be".  This little lady was more then confused when she was dumped by her "mom" back into the shelter when she decided not to take her with her in a move.  Glory was terrified and confused and lashed out at all staff.  Luckily, we understand the confusion of losing your family can have on an animal, so with lots of patience and understanding, she is nothing but loving with the staff now.  She is not great with other cats and really would prefer to be the queen with at least one lap to call her own.  She promises to be loving and loyal in return.  Glory, girl, born approx 2004

Saucy is scared in the shelter, she doesnt understand what is happening.  Saucy showed up in a feral colony with 2 babies in tow.  She was starving trying to raise the little ones.  We suspect that she has been "run off" by unfriendly-to-cats people so she is a bit timid.  But, if you take your time and give her a bit of assurance, she will just melt in your hands.  She loves affection but is just timid of asking for it from the wrong person.  She slept almost 24/7 when she entered the shelter, it was the first time she could let down her guard in a long time.  She would love to find a family that would let her unpack her bags and show her what loyalty a family can have to their pet.  Saucy, girl, born approx 2006.  Abysinnian mix.

I am the only boy in a litter of girls, and although that’s a lot of estrogen….I can hold my own! I am definitely a dominant boy; however, I am a cuddle bug and love a good massage. I even ask for it by meowing. How many critters or even humans are that direct?? In addition, I am not all about talking and taking. I love to give my siblings baths and take a nap with them in the sun. Therefore, I am in touch with my feminine side but still remain a manly man! However, like my sisters (Violet, Pansy and Daffodil), I don’t put on a good show when foster mom takes me to the shelter on weekends for the sole purpose of showing that I am available bachelor. To help combat my one “hang up” or issue, you are more than welcome to arrange a visit to my foster home. This should help to determine if I am the right man for you!
Snap Dragon, male, born approx 4/06.

Violet, female, born approx 4/06.

Hi, I am Violet…you know like the flower. I tolerate canines, humans and love moonlit nights with bugs near the window. I am funny, energetic and very outgoing. I love to lie in awkward positions, especially on my back and in what many humans call a spread eagle position. In addition, I am a little on the hefty side, but I prefer the word fluffy when discussing my weight. Foster mom says she love to hold me because it is like holding a human baby. But, enough of that; I am very strong willed and do not take no for an answer. I have been known to follow my furless (human) roommates around until they produced the goods I wanted….love and affection! Therefore, this just gives you a taste of my true identity; but, I have one downfall. Like my siblings, I get a little upset when I visit the animal shelter on the weekends. This is because I see and smell other felines which make me nervous and upset. So, if you are interested, foster mom does not mind if you visit me or if I have friends over. This is so we can truly get a feel for one another and if we would be good compatible forever roomies.

Keiko, female, born approx 4/06  The tortie WITH the striped face - truly a beautiful expression.  She loves to watch the birds on the wires outside and those flying in for a tidbit of feral cat food.  She cackles away while watching them, she is just sure if she is patient enough, she will be able to catch one.  She is very affectionate and loving, in fact, she will actually take a break from bird watching in order to get attention!  Keiko, girl, born approximately 4/06

Beanie is a sweetie pie dressed in a tuxedo!  He is a long tall drink of water.  His legs are very long and he is a lean machine!  He was returned from an adoption when his "family" decided not to take the entire family in a move, but instead to dump him and his brother back into our shelter.  If you are looking for an affectionate, talking loverboy, this guy fits the bill.  Wont you show him what a real family is about, he sure deserves it!  Beanie, boy, born approx 2004

Pearlie is one exotic looking kitty....she has gorgeous markings and a wide nose and huge paws!  No one thinks she is a specific breed but wow does she look exotic.  She is timid at first but once she warms up, she is a real love bug.  She doesnt like to be picked up but is very affectionate and loving.  She would do best with another feline friend.  Pearlie, girl, born approx 5/06.

Chelsea is a sweet little unassuming girl.  She does have something that makes her special.....a crooked spine.  You cant really tell by the way she walks or anything about her looks different until you really look at her spine and you see it.  The vets think it prob was there at birth and she just doesnt know any different.  She is very affectionate and really loves attention showered on her.  She would love to have a family that would love her no matter what her spine looks like, she would do well with other kitties and children of all ages.  Chelsea, female, born approx 1/06.

Pansy, girl, born approx 7/06.  I live in a foster home with my siblings, a dog and a family of the human kind.  Anyway, I have been there since I was a wee baby and I love my digs.  However, due to this level of comfort, I get upset, growl and hit at my furry brother and sister when foster hom takes me to the shelter on weekends....she does this so potential forever families can meet me.  since that place does not bring out the best in me, let me tell you a little bit about myself.  I am 6 inches from the ground, gray and white, short haired and love a cozy place to take a nap.  I can be shy and quiet or will hide if you make me mad; but, at other times I am a lap kitty and will not let you get away without a snuggle or a stoke on my ears.  Theefore, you'd better be good with your hands!  I dont readily like the canine species; but, if you give me a little time I can adjust and live harmoniously....I have finally accepted my obnoxious Border Collie foster cousin!  In addition, I would do well if I was adopted with one of my sibling; but, I am unsure if I could stand another "feline fur ball" that I dont know.  Putting me in this situation may be asking a little much.  Let me know if I spark your fanc; and, if so, other arrangements can be made so that you can see me at my best or within my comfort zone.   Here's an example Click here to watch

Suzette and her siblings were born at the shelter in March.....they reached adoptable age in May.....adoptions always fall to nothing during May and June.  They start back up again in July but by that time, this litter of kittens were teenagers and there were hundreds of tiny kittens everywhere, adopters chose the tiny kittens.  So this litter has grown up in the shelter and we think they deserve to go home......so the shelter staff and volunteers have collected money to pay the difference in the reduced adoption fee and the regular one.  They are all very sweet and loving.  They have adorable faces and really long to have a lap to lie on instead of just a chair in their room.  Please give them the chance they deserve!  Suzette, girl, reduced adoption fee to $50.00, this girl has been at the shelter too long, she needs to go home!  Born approx 3/06.

What a face with those gorgeous eyes!  Mario is very laid back and not pushy.  He rolls with life and accepts what is given.  Of course, we know he deserves the best because they all do.  He would do best with another cat and no children under 10.  He was very shy when he came into the shelter, but has blossumed with the TLC he has received here.Mario, boy, born approx 6/06.

What a character this guy is!  He is full of spirit, life and love!  He does play hard and would need a buddy that could keep up with him, so an older resident kitty wouldnt be a good idea for him.  But if you are wanting a new family member and one that would be buddies and romp with a young kitty, Stallone would be a great choice.  When he came into the shelter, he had a fat lip, that is how he was named....Stallone, boy, born approx 7/06.

Our dear little sweet spirited Vidi.  Vidi came to the shelter through Animal Control last spring.  He came with a mama and 2 very tiny siblings.  They were all very sick.....his siblings didnt make it, but Vidi decided he was not giving up and he fought back.  He is now about 8 months old and still fights bacterial infections.  From experience in the past with these type cases, at about 1 yr old, they seem to have better immunities and seem to finally not get more infections.  We hope the same for Vidi, after all, he did his part by fighting back, now we are doing our part by helping him to grow into a big boy!  Vidi, boy, born approx 5/06.

This kitty is gorgeous and her amber eyes just draw you in.  She is a tad shy at first but then warms up quickly.  She really enjoys affection but is not the demanding type.  She would do well with just being quiet company for her family.  She does like to play but not rough house too much.  Makayla, girl, born approx 7/06.

Such a sweet little girl this is, however, she can be a little apprehensive with people.  The way to win her over is to offer people food.  Poor Caviar came from a bad situation where the people didnt have enough money to care for all their cats, so the cats had to scavenge for food, we believe that they were fed leftover table scraps because she is obsessed with people food.  So, if this is something that would bother you, best to not choose this girl.  With understanding and reassurance, she will understand that she doesnt need to scavenge anymore.......Caviar, girl, born approx 5/06.

Is that a smile or what?  He must have been have a good dream because we woke him up to take his picture and there was that smile.  Taylor's coat is very dark, more red than orange, with beautiful markings.  He is a tad ornery but aren't all redheads?  He is great with other cats and would be happiest in a family with other kitty friends.  He seems to respond well to children that dont try and rush at him.  Taylor, boy, born approx 7/06.

Is this a doll baby or what?  Gabi was found with a feral colony trying to find food for her hungry belly!  She is such a sweet adorable little thing.  She is an exotic shorthair, see her little smooshed face, that alone can melt your heart!  She loves to snuggle and gets along great with other cats.  She wouldnt do well with young children though as she gets nervous with too much commotion.  Gabi, girl, born approx 2006.

This little lion wrapped in a cat package is a comical guy!  He will carry on and on until you pay attention to him.  He is a tad bit scared in new environments but really does come around fairly quickly.  He talks alot and definitely has tons to say, he is very animated.  He will go crazy playing with a toy mouse.  He does get aggressive with some other cats, but we feel that in a home with only one other cat, he should be just fine!  Costas, boy, born approx 06-2006

This buff classic tabby boy had a rough beginning.  A police officer had to free him from a stack of pallets at the local Quik Trip.  Dupont was NOT happy about his troubles, he was very frightened, covered in oil and just wasnt sure what would happen to him next.  He did learn that the Humane Society humans and vet employees were good to him and therefore, he was no longer frightened.  He got cleaned up and now he is gorgeous!  Dupont is blind in one eye from a infection that he got before he was rescued.  It doesnt stop him from playing an having a great time though.  Dupont would need another kitty in his new family or maybe you would want to adopt 2!  Dupont, boy, born approx 7/06.

This buff boy is just handsome.  He goes crazy for toys and will chase a laser light all day.  He gets along with everyone including other cats and dogs.  He has one habit that could come in handy, he likes to chew on hair.  So you wont have to worry about a hair brush, let Manny be your hair dresser, playmate and companion!  Manny, boy, born approx 04-2006

Felix is a lover boy when he gets to know you.  He loves affection and attention from people and gets along great with other cats.  He is a tab bit timid at first, which is truly sad, because he is a black cat and they get overlooked so often in animal shelters.  Add his bit of scardey cat in there and we know we must have a special family before he gets a chance at adoption.  Are you that special family?  Felix, boy, born approx 2004

Virgo came from the ghetto.....the ghetto meaning a trailer with literally hundreds of stray cats just multiplying uncontrollably...no one cared.  She made her way into the home of a single mother without her observing......suddenly the single mother heard faint cries from her bedroom closet and found Virgo there with a newborn litter of kittens.  Unable to financially care for her, she asked HELP to take her and her litter.  She is learning not to gulp her food, we keep reassuring her that her bowl will always get filled but she is not quite convinced yet but trying.  She is affectionate and attentive, she would make a wonderful quiet companion with very few requests.....one being a full food bowl.  Virgo, girl, born approx 2005

Raejean is a timid girl with a ugly past.  We think she deserves better, dont you?  She was kept in a home with a family that refused to get veterinary care for thier animals and the cats multiplied to an huge number.  When they saw that Raejean and her sister Karla were about to deliver kittens again, they dumped all 12 into our shelter.  Raejean is just not sure how to trust but given quiet reassurance, she warms up.  We still think she deserves to have a family that will give her that.  No children under 10.  Raejean, girl, born approx 2005

Candace has been with us a while, why you ask.....well, she is a black adult kitty.  Did you know they spend the longest periods of time in shelters.  Always being overlooked.......for some reason they just seem to melt into the woodwork unless they are an in-your-face kitty and Candace is not that type.  She lays back and doesnt demand attention but is extremely affectionate and loving when you allow show her the love.  She is great with other cats and would do well as an only girl also.  Wont you give this gorgeous black velvet girl the chance she deserves?  Candace, girl, satin coat, born approx 2005

This BIG handsome boy is all jello!  He is very sweet and snuggly but more the size of a small dog then cat.  He does well with other cats and is very social so should also do well with children, of course, not little children that would want to pick their kitty up because there is no way a small child could pick up this gentle giant.  He narrowly escaped the death sentence at the Raymore Animal Shelter, so he is now ready to find his forever home and unpack his bags!  Capone, boy, born approx 2005

Karla is very affectionate and loving.  She can be a little bit timid on first approach but once you start the petting, she is yours!  She gave birth to a litter of kittens 12 hours after entering the shelter with many other kitties from the same home.  She was so malnourished that she just wasnt able to care for the kittens properly and only 2 survived.  Karla is better now and her kittens have been adopted.  Karla is ok with other cats, however, she would be best in a home with no other kitties.  Wont you show Karla a family that will take care of her well and that not just kittens find great homes!  Karla, girl, born approx 2005

You cant really tell from this picture but Cookie's face is smashed in just a little, like their must be Persian or something in her background.  She just has that really sweet look.  She loves to talk but is VERY soft about it and it usually is accompanied by a slow eye blink.  Cookie was found abandoned and locked in a garage where someone had moved out.  We are not sure if it was by accident or intentional but by the time she was rescued, she was not in good shape......it was during the heat of the summer and she was starving and dehydrated.  A veterinarian was actually who found her (lucky her) and brought her back to health so we could find her a good family.......is that you?  Cookie, girl, born approx 2005

Is this girl gorgeous or what?!  Nikita was a feral kitten when she was brought in by animal control.  She was put through our TNR (trap, neuter & return) program for feral cats.....which is why you see an eartip.  While recovering from her vetting she decided that she would like to be tame and stay inside with the 2-leggeds that appeared to be taking care of her every need.   So she stayed.....she is very affectionate and is awesome with other kitties.......how can you resist that?!  Nikita, girl, born approx 2005

Beth is a young Exotic Shorthair with her stubby little face....she is such a doll!  She is very terrified of dogs and will attack immediately when she sees one, so a home without dogs is needed for Ms Beth.  If you know cats, you know they dont care for belly rubs, but Beth is not your ordinary kitty!  She LOVES belly rubs.  Even though she is a bit timid of people at first she will plop right over if you offer her a belly rub, she just cant resist!  Beth, girl, Exotic Shorthair, born approx 2005

Jodie came from a bad situation where they had way too many kitties to properly care for.  When she entered the shelter, she had 2 young kittens and we could barely tell who the mother was!  Such a baby herself.  She is timid at first so no children under 12 please.  Jodie has had a rough time and needs a good stable family that will give her the love and attention she so deserves.  Jodie, girl, born approx 2005

Geraldine is a girl that knows what she wants and is not afraid to tell you.  She is not a fan of other cats, we think it might be that she came from a trailer park with a huge feral cat population and maybe she didnt fair so well with them.  Whatever the reason, Geraldine requests a home where she can be queen, get all the attention available and not have to look over her shoulder fearing a cat coming in for a sneak attack.  She has an old injury to her eye that the vets say there is nothing we can do about......but it doesnt diminish her beauty!  Geraldine, girl, born approx 2005

Oasis fits his name well, he is very exotic looking and you cant help but be drawn to him.  He is very affectionate and loving.  He is good with other cats but sometimes gets bullied by very dominant kitties.  He is on a special food but it doesnt cost a whole lot more then regular food.  Its a diet that is bland and high in fiber......he didnt have a good life before he ended up with us so his tummy tolerates the special diet better then regular.  Oasis, boy, born approx 2005

Isnt this a sweet faced girl?  Tasha has not had an easy life, her family left her behind in a trailer park to just continually have litters of kittens until some good person intervened.  Because of her ordeal of caring for litters of kittens with very little food sources, she does tend to overeat, she is frightened that the food will suddenly be gone so she eats often and it shows.  In a family of her own, food could be given in increments so she wouldnt overeat but at the shelter, there are many that need to eat often.  She just needs a place to unpack her bags....  Tasha, girl, born approx 2005.

Ahhhhh.....an orange tabby!  Orange Tabby boys are simply the friendliest people kitty you can find!  Nigel is no different.  He is very affectionate and adaptable.  Nigel is looking for a home with other cats and would do fine with children of any age.....he is very social and is just waiting for you to get here!  Wouldnt you love to boast that you have adopted one of the friendliest kitties available?  Nigel, boy, born approx 2004-05.

Chevy got his name because he purred like a Chevy engine.  We had no idea that he was purring to calm himself as he was so terrified in the shelter.  We all love him dearly and praise him for being such a brave boy.  We are not sure that anyone would give Chevy a chance because of how scared he is of people, but he would make a great companion kitty for someone who is too busy to give a whole lot more to a new kitty but would like a friend for their own kitty.  Chevy, boy, born approx 2004

Poor Rosie....Rosie went out on an adoption as a kitten with 2 of our sisters in 2004.  Her family apparently grew bored with the 3 of them as they became adults.  They got 2 puppies from somewhere else and dumped Rosie, Daisy and Peanut back into the shelter.  They are all 3 very confused but are very loving and forgiving of what their former family did to them.   We hope they find their real families soon, they deserve one.    Rosie, girl, born approx 2004.

Such a sleepy boy....shouldnt have awaken him for his picture to be taken!  Tyler is very sweet and loving, he loves affection and would love to be someone's lap warmer.  Orange tabbys are the best you know, they are very people oriented.  Tyler has an eartip which is what we do when we get feral cats vetted.  Tyler is NOT a feral cat but we didnt know that when he was vetted.  We call it his "badge of courage"  Wont you give this tired little boy a place to unpack his bags?  Tyler, boy, born approx 2005.

Isabella came into the local vet with a chemical burn on her chest....no one knows exactly what happened to her but she survived it.  Her coat has grown back and now she is a happy, gorgeous girl.  She is a confident cat that knows what she wants and when :-)  If you are looking for a kitty that has her own sense of self and not too dependent on people, she's your girl!  Isabella, girl, born approx 2004-05.

Poor old girl Jezel....she is a senior and a black cat.....two strikes against her....yet  this girl has so much to give.  She asks for so little, a full food bowl, fresh water, a soft place to lay her sweet head and her litter box scooped.  In return, she would love to be a couch potato with you, hear all your troubles from the day and snuggle with you.....she wouldnt be climbing drapes or hanging from the chandeliers....just a soft quiet companion......we hope she gets her wish.........She still has LOTS of years left!   Jezel, girl, born approx 1998

This girl must have been a comic in another life.  She is extremely animated and talks constantly.  When she talks, her facial expression is so funny.  You can just tell that she really wants you to understand what she is saying and hopes that her facial expressions will help you to understand.  She is amazing in how she cares for the younger cats and kittens in the shelter.....when she came in she was pregnant but the babies were stillborn.  We know this made an impact on her because she just cant help but mother all the other cats and kittens.  She is so fantastic with them, we hope her family has another cat or kitten because we fear she would be lost without another feline companion.  She would love to entertain you for her dinner and some lovin'!  Dawn, girl, torbie, quite the talker, born approx 2004-05

Little Ms Trina has not had an easy time in life, apparently someone abused her and she is on her guard because of it.  She needs someone to give her some time and patience to trust but we think she is worth it.  She lives with the fear that someone is going to take her belongings and she realizes that she needs them, so she is protective.  Wont you give her a chance, after all, we all need second chances at something, dont we?   Trina, girl, tuxie, born approx 2005

Poor Imari, what happened to her family?  Did they abandon her in her senior years...or did she get lost and they didnt want to look for her?  We wish we knew.  All we know is she is over 10 yrs old, a mature girl, who has found herself in the middle of an animal shelter.  Now, we have a great place, not your average shelter, but a girl this age should be spending her time as a lap warmer, not alone in an animal shelter!  Someone loved her once....she had already been spayed when she came in.  Her coat was clean and she was a good weight......what could have happened with her........we are hoping someone will give her a good life for her senior years......she would be a good companion for a human senior.  She isnt, however, fond of other cats....another reason she shouldnt have to be in a shelter.  Imari, girl (senior), black/white, born approx 1997

Rochelle is a Hemingway Polydactyl, she has extra toes.   You can see in the picture, she looks like she has baseball mitts on!  She is affection and loving.  Rochelle needs other cats in her new family, or maybe you would consider adopting two!
Rochelle, girl, born approximately 09/05.

Tresselle is a gorgeous Torby girl.  She is full of sprit and zest for life.  She is great with other cats, however, she does play rough, so she needs a kitty friend that would appreciate that and not be scared.  If you try to stop petting her, she will grab your arm with her paw and give you a love bite......best way to handle that, dont stop petting her!  Tresselle, girl, born approximately 2005

Hello, my name is Chimi.  I was abandoned at 3 weeks old I was taken in by HELP Humane Society.  Lucky for me they found me a wonderful surrogate mom she has been really good to me along with my foster mom.  I am the little talker of the litter.  I love to cuddle and play with my other littermates.   I am ready to go to my forever home.  Will you come take me home to love on you?  I’ll be waiting for you.
Chimi, boy, born 4/05.
Prissy was brought in to the shelter with a horrible gash on her neck.  The vet determined that it was a burst abscess, poor baby!  She was out on her own and has not front claws!  How was she going to defend herself?  She is safe at the shelter now, but boy, would she love a home of her own, can you do that for her?  Prissy, girl, born approximately 1999, Front declawed

My name is Cruella.  I got that name because of my beautiful black and white spotted coat and pointy nose.  You may have noticed I'm missing part of an ear -- that's because I as originally trapped in a feral colony and spayed by a vet that takes care of feral cats.  The ears of feral cats are clipped so that rescue groups will know that cat has been spayed/neutered already.  Well, anyway, it was decided after I was spayed and my ear clipped that I wasn't feral, although I was a little wild and not very social. My foster mom has worked with me since I was a baby and I'm a real sweetie now.  I like to play with toys, cuddle on the bed with people at night, lay on calm laps and get petted.  I startle easy still if something unexpected happens and would probably no be a good pet for a child or someone who would want to carry me around all the time.  When people I don't know come to the house I do tend to hide in my foster mom's bedroom with her chicken-cats.  Are you looking for a beautiful girl like me?
Cruella, girl, born approximately 5/05.

Peeka is full of life and spirit, she is a tad food obsessed, meaning she checks it constantly for fullness :-)  She would love to have a home of her own as she is really not crazy about those other felines!  She does like to talk when she has an opinion..........Peeka, girl, born approximately 2001
